‘Crossroads’ sequel? Director on whether Britney Spears will revisit role

“Crossroads” starring Britney Spears is returning to theaters in celebration of the release of her new memoir “The Woman in Me,” but is a sequel also coming?

Tamra Davis, who directed the 2002 film, expressed interest in returning to the story in an interview with EW.

“I’m currently working with Van Toffler, who was the producer on [“Crossroads”], and he’s [mentioned it]. I think he’s been talking to Britney about it, with her management,” Davis said of a possible sequel. “Britney, I don’t think she really wants to act so much, but I know Ann spoke to Shonda [Rhimes] about something, and Shonda had an idea, so who knows if that will have life.”

Davis added, “fingers crossed that Shonda’s involved because she’s just so brilliant.”

“You could see on her first feature film what an incredible voice she had and her understanding of female characters,” Davis said. “We were all girls behind the camera telling this story about girls in front of the camera. It was such an important voice at that time.”

The film is centered on Lucy, played by Spears, who goes on a cross-country trip with some of her childhood friends in order to reconnect with her mother, played by Kim Cattrall.

Fans have long wanted the film to hit streaming services and Davis has also been advocating fir it.

“Then I got a call a month ago: ‘Hey, they’re doing a color mix. They need you to be there to approve it.’ Sony called me because Britney called and got it picked up again because she wanted it to help launch her book,” Davis said. “One phone call from Britney and it’s available! I think that’s what they’re going to work on now, is getting a streaming deal. I’m sure we will. They’re dealing with offers now.”

“The Woman in Me” is out Oct. 24.

Martha Stewart does dress her age, thank you very much

At the age of 82, Martha Stewart can do what she wants. That includes dressing how she wants.

The doyenne of domesticity was recently recently asked about “dressing for one’s age.”

“Dressing for whose age?” she reportedly responded.

“I don’t think about age,” Stewart told Page 6. “I think people are more and more and more [fabulous] than they’ve ever been in their senior years, and I applaud every one of them.”

The former fashion model said she has “dressed the same since I was 17.”

“If you look at my pictures on my Instagram, I look pretty much the same,” Stewart added.

She is definitely comfortable in her skin. Stewart made history in May as one of the oldest cover models ever for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson wants his wax figure improved

Dwayne Johnson has heard the complaints about his wax figure and says he’s doing something about it.

The Musée Grévin, a museum in Paris, France, that specializes in wax figures of famous people, came under fire recently for a sculpture of Johnson that many found to be too light skinned to represent the actor, who is multi-ethnic.

Some people took to social media to accuse the museum of “white washing” the figure of the “Black Adam” star, commenting that the recently unveiled likeness suffered from a “melanin deficiency.”

Johnson, whose late father, the wrestler Rocky Johnson, was of Black Nova Scotian descent and his mother, Ata Maivia, is Samoan, saw the outrage and addressed it Sunday on social media.

Johnson posted a video of comedian James Andre Jefferson talking about the wax figure and wrote in the caption, “I knew my boy @jamesjeffersonj had this Rock wax statue in his roasting crosshair.”

“‘Is this how y’all felt when you lost the Little Mermaid?’” he quoted Jefferson as saying, adding a laughing emoji.

“For the record, I’m going to have my team reach out to our friends at Grevin Museum, in Paris France so we can work at ‘updating’ my wax figure here with some important details and improvements – starting with my skin color,” Johnson wrote.

According to the museum’s site, “After Dwayne Johnson was chosen at the first edition of the Grévin Awards, sculptor Stéphane Barret had to rely on photos and videos to create a statue as close to reality as possible, without the presence of the international star.”

Jennifer Garner says Reese Witherspoon helped her during a ‘very hard moment’ in her life

Jennifer Garner and Reese Witherspoon are true friends.

The two appeared at Hello Sunshine’s Shine Away event in Los Angeles over the weekend, where Garner said Witherspoon was there for her during a “very public, very hard moment in my life” while speaking during a panel discussion, reports People.

“I think back to being pregnant. This one [Witherspoon] was sitting next to me,” Garner said. “I think back to going through a very public, very hard moment in my life. She was right there and the way I needed to get through it was dance cardio.”

She didn’t say specifically what the very hard moment was, but added that Witherspoon showed up all the time to work out with her.

“I danced cardio-d so hard, we broke her foot, but she kept going!” she said. “It was like, okay, we worked out at seven on vacation, we’re going to work out again at two. She was like, ‘I’m going to be there. I’m going to be there.’”

Witherspoon also invited women in Hollywood to her home to discuss the industry and things they were going through.

“Those meetings happened at Reese’s house. And it was the first time I’d ever sat down with that many actresses in the same room that we weren’t passing each other in an award show in big dresses, where we just sat,” Garner said.

Jeremy Renner reveals how his life has changed since his near-fatal accident

Jeremy Renner is has physically recovered from the near-fatal accident he suffered last January, but the experience has stayed with him.

The “Avengers” star was crushed near his Nevada home while trying to stop his snow-removal tractor from sliding and hitting his nephew. He broke several bones including eight ribs, an eye socket, a knee and a shoulder.

Renner recently spoke with CNN about his recovery from the accident and how his life has changed in the past nine months.

“I just feel very blessed and very lucky to be upright and walk around and to live life,” Renner said. “I’m very, very clear. My life is really lean, if that makes sense. There’s no fat in my life anymore. I don’t have time for that. So, there’s something really beautiful about having that superpower.”

Renner added that his time feels “more valuable” now. He had chosen to travel to Charleston, S.C., where he has partnered with local spirits company Sweet Grass Vodka, who he had been working with before the accident.

“I was really clear about how I want to spend my time, and who I want to spend my time with,” he said. “This to me feels like family, sort of lifestyle things we talk about all the time. And then we have the spirit itself, it’s much more the shared experience. And that to me is where I want to spend my time.”

Renner described “gifts” he feels he has gained as a result of nearly losing his life.

“There is a lot of gifts that I received because of it,” Renner said. “When you’re tested physically, emotionally, spiritually, in every way, and then to come through it, that’s something hard to explain.”

Having regained his mobility, Renner looked and sounded healthy and grateful.

“Perseverance. Strength. It’s all a mental game. I put it in my back pocket now. I know how to deal with pain. It’s all mind. It’s all in the mind. If you can sift through the fog of it all, I am very blessed.”

Jay-Z wants you to take the $500,000 over lunch with him

Jay-Z has weighed in on a longstanding (hypothetical) internet debate over whether to choose a meal with the man himself or half a million dollars.

“You’ve gotta take the money,” the rapper/producer/entrepreneur told Gayle King in an interview with CBS.

“You’ve got all that in the music for $10.99,” he continued “I wouldn’t tell you to cut a bad deal. Like, take the $500,000, go buy some albums, and listen to the albums.”

“It’s all there,” Jay-Z continued. “If you piece it together and really listen to the music for the words, well, what it is, it’s all there.”

Jay-Z met up with King for an exclusive tour of “The Book of HOV,” an exhibit at the Brooklyn Public Library that explores his work and career.

He told King his music is the blueprint of his life.

“Everything that I said was gonna happen, happened,” he said. “Everything that I said I wanted to do, I’ve done.”
